About the Ride

From July 22 thru 27, I will be joining fellow Virginian Kent Hill on a short tour from Utica, New York to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Along with Ikka Suvanto and several other riders, I will accompany Kent on the portion of the Coast-to Coast ride he almost finished last summer--until he suffered an unfortunate accident in Utica which resulted in a broken collarbone. Kent was riding in the America by Bicycle Across America North ride for his second time, along with me, Ilkka, and about 50 other riders. In 2005, Kent had crashed on the first day of the same ride, with the same result. Kent, Ilkka and I tended to ride at similar pace and spent many hours riding together across the northern states, and shared many a Dairy Queen Blizzard to boot. Our mission this time is to see him safely to the Atlantic Ocean, where we will collectively toss him into the waves-collarbone be damned!
